Islam – The Ottoman Legacy
The Ottoman Empire is marked to be one of the greatest influences in history of power in politics, economy, military, culture and religion. In the glory period, the influence travels from place of origin, to Europe, Africa, Middle East and various counterparts in Asia.
It also touches on the history and activities of Islamic missionaries in Korea, Taiwan and Japan in an effort to discover the lifestyle of the Muslim communities there and to gain insight into the missionaries’ efforts in those countries both in the present and in the past. Meanwhile, other segments cover the ancient Islamic kingdoms of Perlak, Samudera Pasai and Aceh in South East Asia.
The documentary series will also provide insights into the history of Istanbul and the 3 sultans – Mehmet II the Conqueror, Suleiman I the Magnificent and Ahmed 1 – and the advance of the Ottoman Empire into Europe, with the fall of Cyprus.
The roots of Islam on the African continent are also revealed, tracing the steps of the first Muslims on the soil of Ethiopia and Eritrea during the reign of the Abyssinian Empire.
This enlightening and informative series will take the viewer on a journey tracing the rich legacy of the Ottoman Empire.
